Brad Pitt's 'Make It Right Foundation' - New Green Homes in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward
After Hurricane Katrina, Brad Pitt co-founded the Make It Right Foundation, aiming to build 150 environmentally friendly houses in the New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. A range of eco-friendly technology makes them more efficient and healthy, including Energy Star-rated windows and appliances, formaldehyde-free cabinets and VOC-free paints. The homes are elevated 8 feet and have an emergency escape hatch in the roof, in the event of any more disasters. They are also deemed affordable, costing about $150,000.
